The Door to Happiness Opens Outward

Fellow steward,

We’re in the holiday season. A special time to reflect and be with our families. The opportunity to care (love) and to be cared for (loved)

As stewards, we have the responsibility and opportunity to initiate the care. With our family. With our teams. With our community.

Viktor Frankl said: “The door to happiness opens outward.”

Mother culture pushes us to make it about us and our consumption. About ego.

Here's a framework I stumbled upon for staying in a mindset of vocation.

 Pick at least one:

  1. God

  2. Mission

  3. Kids

These three options get us outside of our own little world. They make us think bigger. They put us in a position to care.

Our family businesses need us outside of ego. Ego is the enemy.

Great family businesses transcend generations when we see our labor as a vocation — in service to something bigger than ourselves.

Let's lean into the service of our families and our family business.

Onward,
Matt
